Description

Old wives tales abound about the use of various potions to assist with the regrowth of hair. The essential oils in this treatment were examined in a 1998 study¹ which found that aromatherapy was a safe and effective treatment for alopecia areata (spot baldness). Treatment with these essential oils was significantly more effective than treatment with the carrier oil alone. I have modified the treatment to include ghee, olive oil, and avocado oil, all of which have been used by Indian, European, and South American cultures respectively, to assist with hair follicle and scalp health.

I don’t have a hair-thinning problem, but I used to have a dry flaky scalp before using this product. Friends who have been trialling this treatment have reported everything from healthier hair and a less itchy scalp through to partial regrowth in hair-loss areas.

Ingredients: Grass-fed cultured New Zealand cow’s ghee (Bos taurus); spray-free extra virgin New Zealand olive oil (Olea europaea); extra virgin New Zealand avocado oil (Persea americana); organic New Zealand lavender (Lavandula angustifolia), rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis), organic white thyme (Thymus vulgaris), cedarwood (Cedrus atlantica) essential oils.

Use

1. Invert the bottle to mix well and dispense half a cap-full onto your palm.
2. Using a circular motion use your fingers to gently massage the formula into your scalp. It can also be rubbed into the dry ends of your hair.
3. Wrap your head in a warm towel for about 30 minutes. The product should be able to be left in your hair until you next wash it.
4. Apply nightly.

Note

Store the product at room temperature (approx. 21 deg Celsius). Lower temperatures will increase the thickness of the oil. If this happens, gently warm the bottle in a container of water at approximately 37 deg C.
